I've been teaching English Language Learners for 17 years. I received a Bachelor's in English from Emory and Henry College in 2002 and a Master's in ESL Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech in 2008. In 2014, I became Nationally Board Certified in teaching English as a New Language. I worked for nine years in my hometown of Roanoke, Virginia, and this is my seventh year serving in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. I love everything about Charlotte from the diversity to the resources available here.
My passions include animals, children, reading, languages, travel, and technology. I speak Spanish, Portuguese, and portions of various other languages. The students continue to teach me everyday. I have lived, worked, and visited in over forty countries across, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. I love finding new adventures, seeing unique places, and learning about new cultures!
I really love using technology! Last year, my students and I created dozens of new projects with green screening, digital storytelling, and web coding. In addition, we explored with QR scavenger hunts, traveled with virtual reality field trips, and shared our work with other students near and far. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or comments!
